How To Spend Christmas In Bristol This Year

If you’re new to the south-west, having just sorted out home removals in Bristol, you’re probably wondering what to get up to now all the pesky unpacking has done. Luckily, you’ve chosen to move house at a great time of year, as Bristol really comes alive at Christmas… so you certainly won’t be bored and you’ll have an amazing time exploring your new city.

The Christmas markets opened six days ago and they’ll stay that way until December 24th, so you have plenty of time to get all your shopping done, as well as drinking lots of gluhwein and gorging yourself on all sorts of delicious food from the continent. What could be better than that?

Our top picks for the markets this year are the traditional roasted chestnuts served from an ‘olde tyme’ barrow and Rubis Chocolate Wine, which is a blend of Spanish red wine and cocoa… Yummy!

There’s also a Bzzaar Makers Market popping up between December 1st and 3rd, another good shopping opportunity if you’ve not got all your presents yet. On December 16th, the Bristol Show Choir will be out and about in the Bristol Shopping Quarter for your festive entertainment, so put that date in your diary as well.

Winter Wonderland is on at Cribbs Causeway, with the biggest outdoor ice rink in the south-west, a Christmas train ride and an Enchanted Ice Castle – fun for all the family!

Alternatively, you could head off to the American Museum for a spot of Christmas wreath making, or Tyntesfield where you’ll be transported to Christmas past and see how the Victorians celebrated at this time of year. Whatever you choose to do, you’re sure to have a great time!
